The Naval Repairs Committee develops training courses and workshops designed to enhance the skills of both member companies and university students, thereby elevating the human capital within this sector. The committee also conducts visits to the various companies that comprise this cluster.

Workshop: “Maintenance of Caterpillar Marine Engines”

On January 24, 2023, the Naval Repairs Committee, coordinated by Eng. Samir Far, held a workshop at IASA Panama facilities in Pacora, where 14 members received updates and training on: 

  • Preventive maintenance 
  • Caterpillar repair options
  • Online parts sourcing and purchasing
  • Caterpillar reusability guidelines
  • Failure analysis 
  • Sea trial procedures

Seminar: “The Importance of Coatings in Maritime Maintenance Processes”

On August 10, 2022, the Naval Repairs Committee organized a seminar on coatings applied to marine structures in maintenance processes, covering: 

  • Coating systems 
  • Surface preparation selection 
  • Types of coatings and their applications 
  • Maintenance onboard, new builds, and dry dock operations

On November 16, 2021, the Naval Repairs Committee conducted a technical visit to Talleres Industriales S.A. to learn about the company’s diverse naval repair and maintenance services, strengthening trust and innovation in vessel support processes both nationally and regionally
